myriad of the mundane

6.16.2005

her there all, i'm back with another blog. i know you were waiting with baited breath. and i have absolutely nothing new except one thing: i saw star wars!! and it wasn't as bad as the first two!!! yeas, i'm very excited for that because it means that i don't have to sit here and bash on yet another star wars movie numbered 1-3...or more accurately, 1-2. so i'm a happy camper. although when he finally did become darth vader in the machine i was very disappointed with the writing. i mean, come on! noooooooOOOOOOOOOOooooo was a line i was expecting to hear and praying i wouldn't. so friggin cheesy! i mean, damn. and some of those lines made me want to puke. or yell at them to at least get a 5 y.o. editor for the script. because that kid had more sense than the writers of this movie sometimes. and while the effects were absolutely dazzling the plot needed some help. you began to see the nazi-esque empire forming but you never really got into the politics of it. it was all action sequences and that weakened the movie. and who came up with the name General Grievous?!?!? come on! have some imagination. even General Fubar would be better! and now...that is all.

  • lol. i still think the story was subservient to the special effects. and i really hate when that happens so i wasn't pleased, lol. but it was a good movie overall.

  • Here's a weird one...I wish he'd written the darn stories in proper order with the "Return of the Jedi" being the last movie. 4, 5 & 6...as 1, 2 & 3...1, 2 & 3 as 4, 5 & 6. It just works better that way for me. Or just let 1, 2 & 3 be the originals and stop there. I didn't need to know what brought Darth Vader to the dark side. Actually it was the not knowing (just using one's imagination) that was more fun. But then...we'd have missed out on General Grievous!!! Heh heh!

  • yeah, lol, me too. our favorite gift ever over here was the special, digitally remastered trilogy on VHS. tells you it's been a fav. for a while. i'm not a nut but i do love it. i really couldn't tell you the whole backstory on kyle kattarn(way wrong spelling on the name there but you get the idea) and i can't name you all the bounty hunters that were sent out for han solo but i am still in love with sci-fi and deeply with star wars.

  • I liked Return of the Sith, but not as much as the three original star wars movies. I'm sure there were some bits that didn't quite mesh with the old movies, but they were too subtle for me to actually be able to pinpoint them.

  • meg, total right on that one. i mean, buzz droids? you'd think they'd have a shield on their fighters considering they have one on EVERYTHING ELSE!

maja, darling, you sound like me. i love them for their effects and for the story of good versus evil but i haven't liked the mix of the two on the last few. this one was the closest to the original model yet, i think. i'm almost wondering if they'll call a do over on the first two...i really hope so.
