myriad of the mundane

it has been absolutely fantastic weather here. how's about yours? the sun has felt good and just dried it out here a good bit.
my bike is really broken right now but i'm getting more info about how to fix it as we speak here. soon as its going well i'm going to sell it and get something bigger and newer to work on, lol.
i've been listening to some older modest mouse lately and it's just rocking my socks off. they're louder and clearly younger in these and i love it.
i'm still working out design stuff for my backpack in my head but i think i'm about ready to put pen to paper and needle to fabric and get this thing made. latest improvements include using sleeping pad and tent poles for the frame elements to help me carry my lightened load more comfortably, a dry-bag style closure and silicone sealed seams to ensure that the entire thing is completely waterproof, a sealed outside pocket for my shelter so i don't have to open my bag(and get my stuff wet) to get my shelter out and pitched, and finally a mesh back panel that can be cinched to bring it off of the rest of the backpack to increase airflow in hot climates or just in general. i'm also going to make it pretty simple overall...even though it doesn't sound like it.
i've been pretty pissed at mr. bush this week just for being such a douche then trying to pawn it off as nothing more than a simple mistake. feels like they're trying to save him from the burning stake. seems like they didn't bother even trying to restrain themselves with clinton. double standard, anyone?
i think so.
that is all.

do what you can

anyone else think that this latest bush administration abuse of power is unwarranted and, worse, erodes the system of checks and balances? because you should be worried! and if you're not a bit dubious about the legality of a program that senate judiciary commitee chairman Arlen Specter has described illegal you've had your head stuck in the sand for too long. so go sign this and at least try to make it better. what the president has done is interpret the law of the united states. interpreted what it meant. that's for the courts to do! the courts interpret the law!! it's their main job, damn it! the president influences legislation and upholds it but does not decide what it means or how it will be applied. i suppose that these are things that legally elected presidents worry about...

alright, if you need to see something that will make the little nerd in you just crack up go ahead and click here. otherwise, hey, how's it goin there, eh?
i just went ahead and purchased a 4.5 oz. gravity filter so that i can shave some serious weight off of my water filtration needs for backpacking. still going to be using my MSR for any colder weather trips because it still works great and it's way better for just straight camping, too.
past that...i've got to learn how to frikkin sew!!
i really do. mayhaps i'll just go ahead and call diana myself to see when she has time to teach me. because i really want to be able to carry a very small amount of stuff when i go out backpacking/traveling this summer.
god, what else is there to tell you all about?
my life is pretty plain. oh, state of the union!
i'll watch it and let you all know what's going on there. i didn't have a TV last night so i couldn't watch it.
