myriad of the mundane

so it's one big fucking skating rink out there these past few days. but it's finally breaking up and raining again. i never thought i'd be so happy for rain! literally, i've been sitting at the bus-stop waiting on buses longer than i've been on them, even after they kept getting stuck. some buses just didn't come or they'd come so full you couldn't get on because so many hadn't been by before them. this morning i got on the first bus i could after 45 minutes in the sub-20 degree weather after what should have been a 15 minute wait, at the very longest.
but now it's raining so the storm is breaking. enjoy it when it comes your way, y'all!

i made rick steves' coffee this week. it was an odd experience and brings up a funny story.
when i was first coming up here to visit sara when we were dating and i still lived in denver we were bumming around downtown edmonds and happened to drive by rick's travel shop on the way out of downtown. i hadn't seen one of them before so i commented on it and sara casually remarked that he lived in edmonds. my jaw literally dropped. i don't think i'd have reacted more comically if you'd said brad pitt lived down the block from you. i was stunned. part of this is the fact i watched WAY too much PBS as a kid (part of my inquisitive nature) and as a result i loved watching rick's travel shows. it was a window into another world.
just reminds me, folks, that life is short so enjoy thanksgiving the way you want. i'll talk to you all tomorrow or the next day.
that is all.

bone machines

are now out of power, so everyone should be out there in the streets.
all of you know i pride myself on being a thinking man with my politics and that's why i'm so happy the knee-jerkers are leaving power as of january.
oh, and i'm more happy than you know that daddy bush is back in W's inner circle. don't believe me? look at the folks he's surrounding himself with. they're all from his dad's circles.
and that is such a good thing. you want to talk about someone who knew statesmanship talk about H.W.
now, past that i'm in denver for another 36 hours or so. amazing how fast your time is gone, eh? i've been with people i love from out here, though, and i'm really thankful sara came out with me. my folks are really falling in love with her like i have, finally. i'm sicker than a dog, though. i had a fever decend on me yesterday and i've still got sweaty fingertips. i'm feeling about a hundred times better today than yesterday, though, so life is looking up. plus, i get to see some of my favorite ladies today. carolyn, lori and caitlin are all making time to hang out.
i can't see boring you all with more rambling, but i wanted to update you as to what is going on.
oh, and it is so fucking sad that sleater-kinney are on an indefinite hiatus! northwest music will be in mourning for a long time.
well, off into the woods.
